In 2022, Lopez confessed how “painful” it was after she and Ben Affleck called off their wedding and broke up almost 20 years ago. The musician further described it as the “biggest heartbreak” of her life, and she felt like she was “gonna die” spiraling for the next eighteen years.

Lopez shared how she survived the heartache by busying herself with work in a past interview which took place after she and Affleck had rekindled their romance. On July 16, 2022, the “On the Floor” singer and the “Gone Girl” star tied the knot in Las Vegas.

However, after two years of marriage, Lopez decided to file for divorce at the Los Angeles County Superior Court on August 20—a symbolic date for the couple.
This date marks the 2nd anniversary of their Georgia wedding anniversary. According to reports, Lopez opted to file “pro per,” which means that she filed independently, without an attorney.

TMZ reports that she listed her and Afflecks separation date as April 26. Interestingly, because the estranged husband and wife do not have a prenuptial agreement, all the earnings they managed to acquire during their marriage will be listed as community property.

Additionally, Lopez is reportedly not requesting any spousal support from Affleck and has asked the judge to deny the actor receiving such support as well.
While this matter is resolved, the couple still faces other financial issues, such as the need to hash out the sale settlement of their shared Beverly Hills home.

Reports state that while Lopez has already begun searching for a new home, and Affleck already has the one he has been staying at in Brentwood, California, the settlement of their Beverly Hills mansion remains pending. This is so because, allegedly, things are currently very tense between the two.

While Lopez has officially ended her marriage with Affleck, her athlete ex is in a relationship. The famous ex being referred to here is none other than former professional baseball player Alex Rodriguez aka A-Rod.
